Zinemate: Stolen Treasures by Nicola Hardy (AU)
Nicola Hardy aka @secretenvelope is an Australian zine maker, educator, graphic designer, writer and artist. She has been making zines since the 1990’s and still enjoy making them and teaching others about it too at university. She makes collages and comics too.
The repatriation of stolen Roman and Greek artefacts is a complex and controversial issue. There are arguments include considerations of justice, potential loss for museums and impacts on the public. These objects can be seen in the way that they are often fetishized, treated as objects of worship, which can lead to a disregard for their cultural context. If Roman and Greek artefacts could speak, what would they say about repatriation and idol worship?
