Jill Tran, a millennial from Saigon, her artwork is a reflection of her personal experiences and observations of contemporary life, with inspiration from nostalgia and the Oriental aesthetic ethos that she developed during her time in Singapore.
2023 was quite a turbulent year for her, filled with ups and downs. One thing that helped her take care of her mental health was taking time to reflect on her feelings. She visualized each mental state she experienced as a geometric object and examined them carefully as if reading a manual. This 'Burn-Out' episode was inspired by Tarot's 19th card - 'The Sun.' The artist burns herself with her thoughts, ideas, and sometimes worries and anxiety. But at the same time, she sheds layers of covers to free herself.
